6 Generations of history

The Theotoky family is one of the oldest families in Greece and the Estate boasts a rich history spanning six generations .

The estate has been passed down through the family, with archives documenting first  land purchases in Ropa Valley dating back to Angeleki Marmora married to  John Baptist Theotoky (1778-1865), a member of the Filiki Etaireia and a senator in the Kingdom of Greece.  The land was already cultivated with vineyards, olives, corn, oats, and vegetables.

Nikolaos Andreas Theotokis (1808-1972) inherited the estate, focusing on wine and oil production.

In 1878, Georgios Theotokis (1844-1916), who later became Prime Minister of Greece, acquired a significant portion of the estate.

John  Theotoky ( 1880-1900) , studied at the famous Universität für Bodenkultur (University for Agriculture) in Vienna . He devoted himself to politics after the tragic death of his brother Nicolas Theotoky who, as Minister of War, was executed in 1922 by the opposition, after the loss of the Asia Minor Campaign. He served three times as Minister of Agriculture and was deeply attached to the land.

Georges Theotoky (1926-2021) and his wife Claudia inherited the family’s passion for  this land ,  by renovating the wine cellar and achieving organic certification for the estate. They also implemented a centrifuge for olive oil production, which enabled them to make health claims about their product. To honor their legacy, the estate offers Cuvée Georges and Cuvée Claudia, celebrating their contributions to the family's enduring agricultural tradition.
